WS 224 Intuitive forms, basket weaving with natural materials

Friday 1:00 PM-4:30 PM

Instructor: Rosey Covert

In this workshop you will use plaiting and twining to create a sculptural basket. You will be using hand harvested and natural materials, including cedar, willow bark, sea grass and iris leaf. The emphasis of this class will be on exploring shape and pattern to create a unique and beautiful basket. Beginners are welcome, no weaving experience is required.

Materials Provided:

Cedar, willow bark, sea grass, iris leaf, tapestry needle and use of scissors and awls.

Students should bring:

WS 232 Bear Grass braiding

Saturday 9:00 am - 4:30pm

Instructor: Celeste C. Whitewolf

We will make a necklace using two pieces of grass which are braided around a wooden skewer so that loops are created and a hollow core is created. The loops are placed such that one side is in the front of the skewer and the other side of the loop is in the back of the skewer.

Materials Provided:

All materials will be provided. Students are encouraged to bring their own necklace pendant. If the student wishes to purchase a pendant from the teacher, that option will also be available. Pendant price will be dependent upon item selected.

WS 245 Pick a Peck Basket

Saturday 9:00 am - noon

This basket is very close to 9" square. Woven with reed, natural and dyed in a chase weave technique. Complete with bushel handles and a 5/8" rim and sea grass.

WS 275 Small Egg Basket (It's a Cute basket)

Sunday 9:00 AM- Noon

Instructor: Christina (Chris) M Bush

This basket is created using two wooden hoops wrapped together with a woven God's Eye weave. The God's Eye holds the ribs of the basket in place using tension and the weavers are flat oval reed of natural and dyed, and thin sea grass. The Small Egg Basket will be a sturdy basket that can carry a half dozen eggs if needed or for decoration in any room.

WS 286 12" Seagrass Tray

All welcome  ·  Cost: $95

Instructor: Christina (Chris) M Bush

This basket is woven on a 12" pine base using sea grass as weavers using the three rod wale technique. Ending with a 3/4" rim and inset sea grass. The basket is 14" round at the top and approximately 4" in height.
