Getting Fancy with Diagonal Weave

Ever since the Weave-it loom, the 3 pin small looms that became popular back in the 1930's, there have been fancy stitch patterns available to weavers on this little loom. There are people today still designing new stitch patterns for these looms. Botanical printing - creating permanent leaf prints on fabric - also relies on tannins and iron working together and you will learn the techniques you need to produce clear and detailed prints from leaves on fabric. In the morning you will work on small samples of silk and wool fabric, making leaf prints with neutral colored backgrounds. In the afternoon we will study our beautiful samples from the morning then, choosing your favorite leaves and tannins, you will make a silk scarf to take home.
